[SINGAPORE] Companies found guilty of causing haze in Singapore could face criminal fines of up to $2 million, going by the proposed legislation tabled by the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources in Parliament yesterday.
Under the Transboundary Haze Pollution Bill, an entity may be fined up to $100,000 for each day (or part of a day) that haze pollution hangs over Singapore while it engages in illegal conduct.
If the entity fails to comply with a preventive-measures notice, it faces an additional fine of up to $50,000 for each day that it does not fall in line.
