THE success of any initiative requires pioneers, catalysts and supporters. The Business Excellence (BE) initiative has been well supported by a community of passionate BE practitioners and assessors who have built, shaped and transformed the BE initiative over the past 20 years.
In 1994, Cham Tao Soon, chairman of the Singapore Quality Award (SQA) Governing Council and special adviser to SIM Governing Council, SIM Directorate, Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), and Freddy Soon, member of the SQA Governing Council, introduced the BE initiative in Singapore. The first SQA was presented in 1995. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the BE initiative, and special recognition is extended to these two pioneers of the BE movement in Singapore.
