IN 1992, Frasers Centrepoint Limited (FCL) pioneered the suburban mall concept when it built Northpoint Shopping Centre in Yishun, bringing a new vibrancy into the heartlands. Some 23 years later, after numerous retail spaces, residential projects, commercial buildings and serviced residences, the Singapore developer is coming full circle with an ambitious plan to revamp the Yishun neighbourhood.

Its Northpoint City project is a mixed development that will feature the largest mall in northern Singapore, a first of its kind Community Club within a mall and a vibrant Town Plaza - the size of 10 basketball courts - for hosting cultural and community events.

"When completed in 2018, Northpoint City will become a one-stop destination for all lifestyle needs, and residents will enjoy seamless connectivity with the integration of the air-conditioned bus interchange within the development and a direct retail link to the Yishun MRT," says FCL group chief executive officer Lim Ee Seng.
