Building a global business
Sam Goi has leveraged on technology and his own uncanny entrepreneurial instincts to grow Tee Yih Jia into a global powerhouse.
SINGAPORE-BASED food manufacturer Tee Yih Jia churns out a staggering 35 million sheets of pastry skins a day for products that line the shelves of supermarkets or fill the pantries of kitchens around the world.
This global enterprise was improbably built from scratch by one of Singapore's most decorated businessmen, Sam Goi, who came to this country from Fujian when he was just six.
"I am fortunate to be a Singaporean. This country has given me the foundation to build my business and my family. Tee Yih Jia's story is part of the Singapore story. The country and my company started small, dreamt big, conquered challenges and transformed out of necessity to survive and prosper," said Mr Goi in an interview with The Business Times.
