STARTING as a car services company in 1958, Tat Hong has grown into a leading supplier of cranes and construction equipment to local and foreign contractors. The company, founded by Ng Chwee Cheng, also moved into property investment in the 1980s.
His entrepreneurial success is clear for all to see, but Mr Ng has also been recognised for his dedication to social causes and his support in particular of the Chinese community in Singapore. With Tat Hong now being run by his son Roland, the veteran businessman can now focus on his social pursuits.
We speak to him about his contributions in this area as well as his hopes for Singapore.
