Developing potential in tourism
THE investment climate for tourism in Kazakhstan is looking increasingly good with abundant opportunities. Tourism industry development is expected to attract up to US$6 billion in private investment in this sector by 2020, according to the best case scenario forecasts.
Planned legislative changes are seen helping to promote tourism. This includes the simplification of the visa regime for foreign tourists and development of domestic and social tourism.
Kazakhstan's airports and air routes are also being upgraded and this could lead to a rise in the number of tourists to 8.9 million annually by 2020.
