Emerging market banks better placed to expand
Spared by financial crisis, they are in a position to pursue global M&As: report
[SINGAPORE] Banks in emerging markets are relatively better positioned to expand internationally, compared to those in developed markets and this is, ironically, a result of the recent global financial crisis.
The crisis battered the banking systems in many developed countries, but left the financial institutions in a number of emerging markets - which were affected to a smaller degree - relatively strong.
This puts banks in emerging markets in a good position to expand internationally - including into developed markets - this year, says a new report by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
