Euro5 diesel to be available at Johor's BHP kiosks

It enables vehicles to meet S'pore's emission standards

SINGAPORE appears to have done Malaysian motorists a favour by insisting on higher smoke-emission standards for diesel-powered vehicles.

Cleaner, higher-grade Euro Standard 5 (Euro5) diesel will become available at some of BHP's stations in Johor, enabling Malaysian lorries and commercial vehicles to top up their tanks there before entering Singapore, and so meet the Republic's more stringent emission standards.

Singapore's National Environment Agency's new regulation requires all diesel vehicles to meet the smoke-opacity standard of 40 Hartridge Smoke Units (HSU) or less - 10 units lower than before.
