ExxonMobil to add 2 downstream plants to 2nd complex
[SINGAPORE] ExxonMobil has given the go-ahead for two additional downstream plant investments at its second petrochemicals complex on Jurong Island.
One plant is a halobutyl rubber facility capable of producing 140,000 tonnes per annum (tpa), and the other, a 90,000 tpa premium resins plant. Work on both is expected to start in H2 and be done in 2017.
Their outputs will supply the intermediates needed for the tyre and adhesive industries in the region, in anticipation of the rise in demand for vehicle tyres and hot-melt adhesives for product packaging, among other things.
