RESEARCHERS from international police organisation Interpol recently detected a vulnerable space in virtual currency transactions that would allow illegal data such as child abuse images to be stored within encrypted transactions and their records.

This open space was identified as the potential target for malware by researchers from the Singapore-based Interpol Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI), a cutting-edge research and development facility for the identification of crimes and criminals, innovative training, operational support and partnerships. IGCI, which started operating late last year but officially opened yesterday, complements Interpol's general secretariat in Lyon, France, and boosts the organisation's presence in Asia.
