[SINGAPORE] Even as other cities - in their ambition to also become oil trading hubs - snap at Singapore's heels, there lie ahead more opportunities than threats for the Republic.

Recent developments in the energy market provide potential for Singapore to grow further, said Amreeta Eng, trade promotion group director at IE Singapore in an exclusive interview with The Business Times.

"There's no running away from comments that gas will be a larger part of the energy mix. There's no running away from the discussion on shale. And a lot of the demand is in this region," she noted. "This is where we're really excited from some of these developments . . . We want to be a comprehensive energy trading hub across all sectors."
