Indonesia's greenfield refinery meeting cancelled

[SINGAPORE] The flak over Indonesia's naming of a ship after the Indonesian marines who bombed Singapore's MacDonald House in 1965 has spilt over to the energy front. An earlier-scheduled Indonesian government meeting with potential investors in Singapore today for its first greenfield refinery development in 30 years has now been cancelled.

It would have involved the Vice-Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Susilo Siswoutomo and Finance Vice-Minister Mahendra Siregar as well as Pertamina officials, according to the meeting agenda.

No official reasons for the cancellation of the scheduled "market consultation event" at the Shangri-La Hotel were given, but BT understands that it is related to the current diplomatic row between the two countries over the naming of the Indonesian navy ship.
