Investment discipline, vigour pay off at Mapletree

MAPLETREE Investments' success has become evident. From a company with a portfolio of ageing and low-yielding property assets and undeveloped land, it has become a fast-growing asset-light company with a track record of creating value from underperforming properties.

Many of its strong yielding assets have been placed in the listed Reits under its capital management platform. But ask Mapletree Investments chief executive officer Hiew Yoon Khong and he will tell you that it is no pure luck how Mapletree has arrived at where it is today.

A common thread that runs through the Mapletree story has been the discipline in its risk-return analysis - having a strong investment thesis and exercising vigour in validating that thesis.
