Kingsmen has made Singapore sparkle, from designing and building luxury boutiques, to supporting milestone events, and even the Universal Studios castle
ALMOST 40 years ago, two young colleagues at the same display design firm decided to strike out on their own with just S$12,000 and one business idea. Both founders, Benedict Soh and Simon Ong, had to juggle multiple tasks from sales to design and project management - slogging an average of 6.5 days weekly.
"From day one, we were very strategic in what we set out to do. We were professionals, consultants to our clients, offering them a better return on their marketing dollar than just traditional advertising in TV, radio and print," says Mr Soh, 66, now executive chairman of Kingsmen Creatives.
Kingsmen's focus was clear: offering quality design, quality production and quality after-sales service, Mr Soh says. "We were very idealistic that way. We didn't work just because there's money. We wanted to focus on what we liked to do, and we want to do it well," he says.
