THIS WEEK'S TOPIC: Will the move to scrap quarterly reporting lead to a decrease in corporate transparency?

Quarterly reporting and corporate transparency do not have a causal relationship. In my experience, quarterly reporting puts a massive administrative burden on companies and very rarely offers any insights that an investor wouldn't get from half-yearly numbers. Having said that, I also think that many companies have a long way to go in how they communicate with investors outside of formal reporting. The best investors are hungry and diligent in their quest for information, they will naturally gravitate to companies that engage with them and involve them in the conversation rather than hiding behind formal reports.
