LTA: higher proportion of cheaper cars in Cat A now
Drop in median OMV of Cat A cars registered after re-categorisation
[SINGAPORE] The small car Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premium may not have softened substantially following last month's re-categorisation but Land Transport Authority (LTA) data shows a higher proportion of less expensive cars registered with a Category A COE since then.
A Cat A car used to be defined as one with an engine capacity of 1,600cc or smaller. From last month, the re-classified Cat A also limits engine output to 97 kW or 130 hp.
The move is to ensure that luxury models stay out of this traditional bread-and-butter segment and that soaring premiums are deflated.
