May 2 opening of KLIA2 unlikely

THE OPENING of Malaysia's new budget terminal KLIA2 on May 2 now appears unfeasible, as its main contractor has yet to secure the certificate of completion and compliance (CCC).

This comes amid claims that a shocking two-thirds of the main terminal building has failed fire and safety checks.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said on Tuesday that it has yet to receive the CCC from its main contractor, UEMC-Bina Puri, though the joint-venture had been scheduled to hand it in on Jan 31.
