[SINGAPORE] The Straits Times was rapped yesterday in court for publishing an interview with bus driver Lee Kim Huat ahead of the Committee of Inquiry (COI) into the Little India riot, with COI chairman G Pannir Selvam describing it as a form of contempt of court.

Mr Lee was driving the bus involved in the fatal road accident which resulted in the death of Sakthivel Kumaravelu on Dec 8, the night that the riot took place in Little India.

Senior State Counsel David Khoo brought up the matter in court yesterday during the inquiry, noting that Mr Lee was due to testify in court and sought Mr Selvam's direction on how the matter should be dealt with.
