Credit Suisse research finds 3 key trends shaping key economic and geopolitical events in the past year

THE major economic and political events of the past year can be traced back to three major trends: the emergence of a multipolar world, sustainability and demographic change, according to research by Credit Suisse.
In the past year, oil prices have more than halved, biotech stocks have outperformed, and geopolitical uncertainty has taken hold in the Middle East and elsewhere.
"There are multiple driving forces behind each of these. But we believe that there has been a particularly deep impact from the three megatrend categories," said Giles Keating, global head of research, private banking & wealth management at Credit Suisse in the report "Megatrends: Demographics, Multipolar World, Sustainability".
