More watches, fewer launches

AUDEMARS Piguet (AP) has trimmed the number of new watch models launched annually so that its factory, now with fewer to produce, can make and get the new timepieces to buyers quickly. AP at the same time is also freed to work more on other projects.

So instead of the usual one, AP this year has unveiled two concept timepieces: the Royal Oak Concept RD#1(main picture) and the Royal Oak Concept Lap-timer Michael Schumacher. These break new grounds in the making of minute repeaters and chronographs.

AP also rolled out two limited editions, one dedicated to Indonesia and the other the luxury retail watch chain, The Hour Glass. These too came from the Royal Oak collection.
