WHILE most companies worry about balancing profitability with moves to build a more sustainable business, this is one issue that does not worry Malaysian businessman Francis Yeoh.
The managing director of the YTL Group of Companies is well known for his commitment to sustainability. In 2011, the organisation set up a Group Sustainability Committee, led by Mr Yeoh and senior management from the group's various business units to oversee, and direct its efforts in this area.
As his family is the majority shareholder of the group, he is able to pursue the long-term goals of sustainability that other entities faced with short-term shareholder pressure may not be able to replicate.
