OpenNet fined $240,000 for poor service

FIBRE broadband network provider OpenNet was fined $240,000 yesterday by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) for failing to comply with Quality of Service (QOS) standards in the timely provision of non-residential services from April to September 2013.
The IDA said it considered several factors such as the "large margin" by which OpenNet had failed the QOS standards, as well as the need to take "strong deterrent action" against OpenNet for its poor QOS performance, before arriving at the quantum of the financial penalty.
