Prepaid SIM card quota per person cut from 10 to three
[SINGAPORE] The number of prepaid SIM cards that a subscriber can have has been cut from 10 to three effective from today in a bid to stem their use in illegal activities.
This move is the result of the Government's "ongoing security review", a joint statement by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), said yesterday.
Prepaid SIM cards that have been fraudulently registered have been used to facilitate criminal activities including unlicensed moneylending, cheating scams, as well as vice-related and gambling-related activities, the authorities added.
