SE-Asia heading in right direction: Credit Suisse

DESPITE the volatile economic environment, South-east Asia is likely to keep growing on the back of continued foreign investment, trade agreements and a youthful workforce, said a senior executive of Swiss bank Credit Suisse.

South-east Asia can build on its recent record of robust economic growth averaging 6 per cent annually from 2010-2014, said Eric Varvel, chairman, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, Credit Suisse.

"This growth is partly due to the smart decisions made by economic and political leaders throughout the region. This favourable environment has also helped attract foreign investment," Mr Varvel told delegates in his opening address at the Credit Suisse Global Megatrends Conference.
