Seize opportunities despite the risks

Do not take the safe path every time as life has twists and turns, says Achal Agarwal, senior executive of US multinational Kimberly-Clark

IT is an honour and a privilege for me to be here to deliver this graduation speech. I see it as a big responsibility for me to speak to you at this inflexion point in your career and life. So to begin with, congratulations! First of all, you should cherish what you've accomplished and the sacrifices you and your loved ones have made to make this day happen - you should be very proud.

As you look forward to your career as an Insead MBA, I thought I would talk about some ideas which have been crystallised over my 30 years in business. I did not have these ideas early in my career. These ideas gradually crystallised as I worked in the trenches, and through observing things that worked, and those that didn't. You might say that these ideas have come through the practical experience of an operator.

I felt that it might be helpful if I leave you with some practical and hopefully inspiring thoughts. The three themes that I have chosen to share with you today are:
