Singapore to also revise Causeway toll charges
Minister says it ensures a fair distribution of total revenues
[SINGAPORE] Singapore will in due course change its Causeway toll charges in line with Malaysia's latest revision, as the principle of matching continues to guide the approach on this matter.
Senior Minister of State for Transport Josephine Teo told parliament on Tuesday that Singapore has a "long standing" policy of matching tolls that Malaysia imposes for the use of the Causeway and the Second Link. As such, she revealed that the government will match Malaysia's latest revision that kicked in on Aug 1, "in due course".
Responding to questions in parliament on Tuesday from MPs Ang Wei Neng and Pritam Singh on whether the government has plans to review Singapore's long-standing policy in this regard, Mrs Teo explained that "it (the policy) reflects the shared nature of the two crossings, and ensures a fair distribution of total revenues from the crossings".
