[SINGAPORE] The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) is working to formulate localised regulations for drones, amid protracted efforts by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to develop global standards in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) operations.
Just last month, US and Canadian aviation regulators said during an industry conference that the widespread use of commercial drones is likely to take "significantly longer" than proponents of the budding industry anticipate.
The US Congress had earlier mandated that the Federal Aviation Administration institute a plan by the fall of 2015 to safely integrate manned and unmanned aircraft in US skies. This is now expected to be ready only after 2016.
