ST Engg to debut novel ideas at S'pore Airshow

[SINGAPORE] As the Singapore Airshow 2014 opens this week, its largest exhibitor, ST Engineering, is set to present its latest technologies which span three clusters: aviation, combat and environmental solutions.

The defence and engineering group will take up more than 2,000 square metres of space in the main exhibition hall at the Changi Exhibition Centre.

Representing the aviation solutions segment, the new USTAR series of unmanned aerial vehicles will be unveiled at the show. The USTAR family features a vertical take-off and landing capability, modular design, and swift assembly for deployment, according to ST Aerospace.

On the environmental solutions front, Singapore's first commercial Earth observation satellite, TeLEOS-1, will debut at the airshow. Developed by ST Electronics Satellite Systems and set to be launched in 2015, this 400-kilogram satellite is equipped with an electro-optical camera payload that can perform imaging at ground resolution of up to one metre.

In the combat solutions segment, the group will also show off concepts such as the STK 5.56 Bullpup Multirole Combat Rifle, a new family of rifles.

These will be showcased alongside the Bionic Regenerative Active Energy System developed by ST Kinetics, which converts the mechanical energy generated by soldiers into electric energy that is used to power soldier systems or other low-power electronic devices.
