'Team effort' and lots of discipline

HIEW Yoon Khong says that he is "not a big fan" of personal awards, and would rather attribute Mapletree's success to team effort.

He concedes that when he hears comments that Mapletree's successful undertakings are a matter of luck, it is "upsetting because it devalues the efforts of the team".

"When you look at how we execute our business model, there is a lot of order in it, basis, a lot of science if you like," Mr Hiew says. "That's why this is an opportunity for me to go out again and say that it is nothing to do with all this 'luck' thing but the discipline that we have when we analyse our risk-return, business model, efficiency and execution."
