[SINGAPORE] Changi Airport's Terminal 4, which broke ground yesterday, will bank on design and technology to run more productively against the backdrop of a tight labour market.
The terminal, which will open its doors in mid-2017, will be used to test new concepts that could eventually be rolled out on a larger scale at the upcoming Terminal 5, which is set to come onstream in the mid-2020s.
Self-service options - from check-in to baggage drop off and automated immigration clearance - will be introduced at T4, translating to security manpower savings of 20 per cent.
