Questions linger over the handsome earnings claimed by 1MDB-linked private banker Yak Yew Chee even as BSI Singapore said this week that he had left the bank.

His purported paycheck may have once made him the highest- paid private banker here. Data on the remuneration of private bankers reveals that Mr Yak was paid "phenomenally well", in the words of one banking source.
