78% of CPF investors beat risk-free 2.5% returns
Board cites equity markets' recovery for better showing; it also tweaks method for tracking performance

MORE CPF members who invested their Ordinary Account (OA) savings under the Central Provident Fund Investment Scheme (CPFIS) outperformed the guaranteed annual 2.5 per cent interest rate per annum in fiscal year 2016.
Some 78 per cent of CPF investors - or 441,000 members - achieved profits larger than 2.5 per cent in the 12 months to Sept 30, 2016, as equity markets recovered from the 2015 rut. Some 12 per cent of CPF investors (66,000 members) incurred losses on their investments.
