CAPITALISING on his success at last week's Group of Seven (G-7) summit in getting leaders to commit to fiscal stimulus, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will this week approve a further delay in hiking Japan's consumption tax while also announcing a fresh spending package for the economy.
Mr Abe reportedly told Japan's Finance Minister Taro Aso and Secretary-General of the controlling Liberal Democratic Party, Sadakazu Tanigaki, at the weekend that he plans to delay the consumption tax hike from its scheduled date at the start of next April to October, 2019.
