THE prospects for Malaysia's stock market which has underperformed the region in the first half of this year are expected to be limited in the remaining six months due to still continuing economic and political uncertainties, according to analysts.

The brief spark earlier this month ignited by Fitch's affirmation of the country's long-term foreign currency issuer default rating at A- was predictably short-lived as it was overtaken a few days later by a damaging report in the Wall Street Journal citing ongoing government investigations that nearly US$700 million of monies linked to state-owned 1MDB had allegedly been deposited into Prime Minister Najib Razak's personal bank accounts from 2013 to February 2015.
