THERE may finally be some light at the end of a long dark tunnel for Indonesia's tourism sector. After a number of false dawns, Bali finally opened to international tourists on Oct 14, more than 18 months after the popular resort island shut its doors.
With Covid-19 infection cases having fallen dramatically and with one eye on reviving the economy, President Joko Widodo's government announced that the country would once again allow visitors from 19 eligible countries including China, India, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand. Singapore is not on the list.
