EZ-Link x Touch ‘n Go cards to be restocked on Jun 19

CONTACTLESS payment service provider EZ-Link will replenish the EZ-Link x Touch ‘n Go motoring cards on EZ-Link’s official Shopee store by Sunday (Jun 19).

Even as supplies in Singapore are running low, EZ-Link told The Business Times that the cards are still available at selected 7-Eleven stores, Cheers outlets and various petrol stations including Esso, Caltex, Sinopec, Shell and SPC.

“Consumers can visit EZ-link’s website for the latest updates on the availability of the EZ-Link x Touch ‘n Go Motoring Card on its official Shopee store, or contact the offline sales partners listed above for their current inventory levels,” said the spokesperson.

This dual-currency contactless smart card allows Singapore motorists to pay for highway tolls and checkpoint toll charges when they drive to Malaysia.

Scores of Singaporean motorists, many of whom want to make the short trip to Johor Bahru, have lamented on social media that they are unable to find these Touch ‘n Go cards in Singapore.

At a recent media event, Touch ‘n Go Group’s chief executive officer Effendy Shahul Hamid said that a global chip shortage has affected the supply of the cards, especially for the upgraded card that uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.

This NFC technology allows users to reload their cards directly using their Touch ‘n Go e-wallets. It was reported that these NFC cards, which were launched on Apr 22, were sold out within 2 weeks.
