[KUALA LUMPUR] Eyebrows were raised last month when Malaysian dairy producer Farm Fresh announced a RM83.9 million (S$25.3 million) share acquisition of the country’s largest homegrown premium ice cream chain Inside Scoop.

The chatter was not so much about the size of the deal – it only represents less than 3 per cent of Khazanah Nasional-backed Farm Fresh’s market capitalisation of RM2.9 billion – but more on the future offerings following the merger and acquisition exercise.

Farm Fresh, which was listed on the main board of Bursa Malaysia last year, announced on Feb 15 that it plans to take a stake of up to 65 per cent in Inside Scoop.
