Indonesia’s June tourist arrivals up 12.4% m/m

FOREIGN visitors to Indonesia in June were up 12.4 per cent from the previous month as post-pandemic travel continued to recover, data from the statistics bureau showed on Tuesday (Aug 1).

The South-east Asian country recorded 1.06 million tourist arrivals in June versus 945,590 in May, data showed.

In June last year, foreign arrivals stood at 483,880 as the government had just started to ease coronavirus restrictions.

Singapore, Malaysia and Australia were still the top three source markets, as in the previous three months.

Indonesia received 5.2 million visitors in the first half of 2023, or more than 80 per cent the total arrivals in 2022.

The country’s tourism ministry has revised up its target of foreign arrivals in 2023 to 8.5 million visitors from 7.4 million following positive results in the first quarter. REUTERS
