Keppel partners Thailand's BCPG to deliver sustainable energy solutions, infrastructure
KEPPEL New Energy, a subsidiary of Keppel Corporation's BN4 : BN4 0%infrastructure arm, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Thai renewables firm BCPG to collaborate on providing low-carbon, sustainable energy solutions and infrastructure in Asean.
In a press statement on Thursday, Keppel said the MOU will see both companies collaborating exclusively on developing and delivering high-efficiency district cooling as a service, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and operation, along with other smart-city innovations in Thailand.
Through their partnership, Keppel New Energy and BCPG will collaborate on renewable energy generation and interconnected transmission, as well as projects that generate high-quality renewable energy certificates and carbon offsets for the growing carbon offset markets in the region.
They also intend to jointly develop a carbon credit marketplace and trading platform to be utilised in Thailand, Laos and Singapore in the future.
According to Keppel, the MOU brings together the strengths of both companies to meet rising demand for clean and renewable energy, as well as value-added energy services to power sustainable urbanisation arising from rapid economic development in Asean.
"We are pleased to build on our strong partnership with BCPG to bring some of Keppel Infrastructure's flagship decarbonisation and low-carbon energy solutions to Thailand and the broader Asean region," said Keppel Infrastructure chief executive Cindy Lim.
