AS THE global inflationary surge continues to spread across the world, Indonesia will not be spared, with 40 per cent of households being impacted by rising energy and electricity prices in the coming year, said economists and market analysts.
Throughout 2021, below-target inflation allowed Bank Indonesia to pursue a "pro-growth" stance to support fledgling economic recovery, but rising inflation could force the central bank to hike interest rates in the second half of 2022, according to a recent report by ING Think.
