SINGAPORE-BASED Malaysian voters wanting to head home for the Nov 19 polls are facing flight prices that skyrocketed within hours of the election date being announced.
Within two hours of the news on Oct 20, 39-year-old Jeremy Teng discovered that the price of a return flight from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur had reached RM917 (S$276), about 53 per cent more than what he normally pays.
“It was RM867 when I was checking after reading the news. After considering for five minutes, the price surged by another RM50 to RM917,” he told The Business Times (BT). He immediately booked the ticket, fearing that the price would increase again.
