TNG Digital - a joint venture company by Malaysia’s Touch ‘n Go and Ant Financial Group - has expanded its cross-border payment service to Singapore, to allow Touch ‘n Go e-wallet users to pay for their ComfortDelGro taxi fares.

In a statement, TNG Digital said this feature was possible through a collaboration with Alipay+, a suite of cross-border digital payments and market solutions operated by Ant.

ComfortDelgro - the operator of Singapore’s largest taxi network with about 9,000 cars on the roads - currently accepts more than 20 different cashless payment options.

Tough ‘n Go e-wallet is Malaysia’s largest mobile wallet service with nearly 17 million users who use their accounts for everything from making payments to investing.

TNG Digital chief executive officer Alan Ni noted that plans are underway to launch more acceptance points for the Touch ‘n Go e-wallet in Singapore, although he did not provide specific details.

From now until June 25, Touch ‘n Go e-wallet users can get an instant discount of between RM4 (S$1.26) and RM6 off their total ComfortDelGro taxi fare when they make payment. These are capped at the first 300 transactions daily.
