    A SENIOR Malaysian minister has declared that the country is unfazed by the competition heating up in the manufacturing space, following the US’ move to tighten economic, trade and investment ties with Vietnam, Malaysia’s smaller South-east Asian peer.

    With Malaysia having launched a fresh industrial plan to elevate its game in manufacturing – its second-sweetest spot for foreign direct investments (FDIs) – its Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Zafrul Aziz said that the country in fact expects to benefit as the US and Vietnam upgrade their ties.

    Malaysia plans to commit billions of dollars in semiconductor and artificial intelligence deals in the sector, he also said, in an interview with The Business Times.
