Australia government consumption rises 0.9% in Q1

    [SYDNEY] Australian government spending for consumption rose 0.9 per cent in the first quarter to an inflation-adjusted A$74.34 billion (S$74.16 billion), the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported on Tuesday.

    Investment spending by the government and public enterprises increased 0.7 per cent to A$17.59 billion.

    The data will feed into the gross domestic product (GDP) report for the first quarter due on Wednesday.
