[SYDNEY] Australian government spending for consumption dipped 0.2 per cent in the third quarter to an inflation-adjusted A$77.64 billion (S$82.1 billion), the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported on Tuesday.

Investment spending by the government and public enterprises fell 10.4 per cent to A$18.78 billion, implying total spending was likely a small drag on economic growth.

The data will feed into the gross domestic product (GDP) report for the third quarter due on Wednesday.
