Barisan Nasional wins Rompin by-election, but with reduced majority

AS expected, Malaysia's Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition retained the rural Rompin seat in a parliamentary by-election on Tuesday, albeit with a significantly reduced majority.
Analysts have pinned the whittled-down majority to the introduction of the undoubtedly unpopular Goods and Services Tax of 6 per cent.
