BOJ again pushes back its consumer price inflation target

THE Bank of Japan's (BOJ) Policy Board again pushed back its consumer price inflation target during a two-day meeting that ended on Tuesday. The central bank said that the 2 per cent goal now may not be achieved until some time during fiscal year 2018, which ends in March 2019.

This implies that the highly elusive target, set some three years ago, might not be achieved before the end of the current tenure of BOJ governor Haruhiko Kuroda in April 2018.
