BOJ appoints Eiji Maeda new executive director of international affairs
[TOKYO] The Bank of Japan said it appointed Eiji Maeda as the central bank's new executive director of international affairs, responsible for communicating with other central banks and arranging financial meetings.
Mr Maeda was the head of the financial markets department and had previously served as the BOJ's chief economist.
Mr Maeda's appointment comes amid increasing concern in some countries that the BOJ's quantitative easing and negative interest rates policies are intended to advantage Japan's exports by weakening the yen.
The BOJ kept monetary policy steady last month, defying market expectations that it would expand stimulus to protect Japan's fragile economic recovery.
