[TOKYO] The Bank of Japan must seek ways to assist corporate-sector investment that promotes digitalisation and a carbon-free society, one of its board members said at a January meeting, suggesting that the idea could emerge as a future policy option.
Another member, however, said it was "not easy" to use monetary policy to address structural challenges that Japan's economy faces, according to the minutes of the January rate review released on Wednesday.
At the Jan 20-21 meeting, the BOJ kept monetary policy steady and upgraded its economic forecast for next fiscal year, but warned of escalating risks to the outlook.
