Stocks suffer one of the worst Thanksgiving weeks in recent years
US stocks endured one of the worst Thanksgiving weeks in recent years, on signs of greater friction between the US and China and a global flight from "risk assets".
This week, investors are awaiting signals of a détente at the Group of 20 meeting in Buenos Aires, reports from the busiest week of the year for retailers and Opec's efforts to stave off an oil crash.
The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping late this week could decide whether US stocks finish in the green or the red on the year. Signals are decidedly mixed. While Mr Trump has hinted that a deal is in the offing, his administration has reportedly pushed forward with efforts to slow the growth of Chinese tech and telecom company Huawei.
